The Nicaragua July 2005 Work & Witness Team trip started with everyone packing an extra duffel bag full of medical supplies. Our project was to help construct a new Pastor’s house at Jinotepe, about 90 minutes from Managua. The church building was not started yet; they were meeting in the walled lot where we started building the Pastor’s house. It was to be the first Church of God in Nicaragua, in which we attended Sunday services with them. We also had Vacation Bible School for the Children in a park at Jinotepe near the church. In Managua where we were staying, others of the group visited the Hospitals and gave each new mother a gift (a Layette) that would start them in caring for their newborn. We also visited one of the schools (Santa Rosa) that the NiCE Foundation (Nicaragua Christian Education Foundation) had started in Managua. There some of the team members have been sponsoring children to help them through School. We also took the last couple of days to see Nicaragua and its Active Volcano. We also went shopping in their markets and took a ride on a Zip Line on the side of a volcano. We were blessed to be allowed to serve in the country of Nicaragua.
